RESISTANCE MECANIQUE<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”60px”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width_row=”true” padding_left=”30px” padding_right=”30px”][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]Une fois durcie, la chaux est suffisamment r\u00e9sistante pour r\u00e9aliser la ma\u00e7onnerie contemporaine, jusqu\u2019aux structures m\u00eame tr\u00e8s complexes et aux b\u00e2timents hauts comme les cath\u00e9drales.<\/p>\n

La chaux a \u00e9galement une autre propri\u00e9t\u00e9 qui rend le mat\u00e9riau unique et le distingue des autres liants : son \u00e9lasticit\u00e9<\/strong>. Un mortier \u00e0 la chaux peut absorber les d\u00e9formations des structures murales dans une certaine mesure sans se fissurer.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 quoi la chaux doit-elle cela? La chaux de construction r\u00e9agit en plusieurs \u00ab\u00a0phases\u00a0\u00bb.
\nUne r\u00e9action hydraulique initiale provoque un durcissement primaire du liant. Il donne \u00e0 la ma\u00e7onnerie sa coh\u00e9sion.
\nPar la suite, la chaux durcit progressivement, m\u00eame apr\u00e8s quelques ann\u00e9es, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une r\u00e9action avec le CO2 pr\u00e9sent dans l\u2019air (= carbonatation). C\u2019est ce durcissement lent qui donne la flexibilit\u00e9 et l\u2019\u00e9lasticit\u00e9 \u00e0 un mortier de chaux.<\/p>\n

Cette \u00e9lasticit\u00e9 limite \u00e0 son tour la fissuration.
